JP and Lana Cilliers
JP and Lana Cilliers are both Kumnandi Getaways guides.
They completed their 4x4 Trails and Overland Tourist Guide course in March 2002.
Since then they have been quite active on the 4x4 scene. They specialize in scenic 4x4 routes
and camping trips. |

JP went to school in Ceres and Lana in Cradock and Paarl. They got married in 1989
and they have 2 beautiful kids, Jana (12) and Jacques (9).
For them 4x4 is a hobby and both have professional careers. JP works for a French pharmaceutical
company as a Regional Business Unit Manager responsible for the Western Cape and Namibia. Lana on
the other hand is a fashion designer working for herself.
Before getting involved in 4x4 they had a boat and went skiing with every opportunity. JP was also
a keen mountain biker until he realized it is easier to get to the top of a mountain with an engine. |
In 1998 they bought their first 4x4, a second hand, old shape Colt Rodeo 3L. As this was
a new venture for both of them they attended a basic 4x4 introduction course before tackling their first
4x4 route, which was called Suurpootjie (the name has since changed to Vaalkloof).
They started off going on trails with friends and then got involved with organised group outings. |

Both JP and Lana were founding members of the Cederberg 4x4 Club. JP also held the
position of Chairman and Lana as secretary for the first two years after the club started. During
that period they were also guides for Cederberg 4x4.
