Chris (aka “camelman”) & Maggie Jonker
| Chris and Maggie has been a regular at Kumnandi trips since its inception. Chris
recently completed the 4x4 Trail and Overland Guide Course and has now joined Kumnandi as a guide.
He is an adventurer by nature and is also an experienced overlander, favouring arid regions such as Namibia
and the Northern Cape.

Chris grew up in Stellenbosch with the life long dream of travelling through Africa in a
Land Rover. He met Maggie, who hails from KwaZulu/Natal, in Pretoria while doing National Service and
the couple has been married for 22 years. They have two teenage daughters, Zelda (19) and Marisha (15).
Chris is a manager in the Advisory section of PricewaterhouseCoopers, while Maggie is a
Senior State Accountant at the Department of Health. |
| Chris is also an accomplished cyclist, having completed the Argus Cycle Tour on 17 occasions,
including a sub 3 hr, and has also cycled down the entire West Coast on occasion. Many of the family's
adventures were cycling related, but their first real taste of offroading was doing the Richtersveld
alone in a 4x2 Nissan Hardbody. It was here that their love for overlanding to remote destinations
was borne, as well as the need for a 4x4 vehicle. |

Chris is a BIG Land Rover fan and they subsequently bought the "Camel", which has given
sterling service (contrary to popular believe on Land Rovers) on various overlanding trips to remote
locations, as well as on regular 4x4 routes. The family thoroughly enjoys this and Chris is well
known for his comprehensive planning of trips, as well as reporting on them. |
